The Least of These...

Matthew 25:35-36
"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in."

There are nearly 10 million people who are in a life and death situation
as they are 'critically short of food' in East Africa.
The UN is reporting this as the worst drought in over 60 years.
For many, that is just another headline on the evening news...
for me those 'people' have NAMES  and FACES.
So many of the children I know & love in Uganda & Kenya are short of food.

Jesus does not ASK us to help feed the hungry
and care for the poor -
He COMMANDS us to.

When was the last time we truly SACRIFICED to meet the needs of the hurting?
When was the last time any of us were TRULY HUNGRY

As a mother, I can not imagine not being able to give my children
the basic necessities of
FOOD, CLEAN WATER and CLOTHES.
Yet how much of my time and focus is worrying about all the EXTRAS?

My heart is breaking!

I am challenged as I read the news about the suffering taking place ...
what can I 'give up' to be able to 'give MORE'

 Food & Water....

Seriously?

They need basic Food and Water!
Please pray with me

...and consider what God would have YOU do
to be His 'hands and feet' to
the suffering in East Africa.

I am leading a team back to Uganda & Kenya October 12th- 24th...
and we still have space available.

Is He calling YOU to
GO, FEED, and LOVE
on the fatherless?

You can also send funds directly to Fiwagoh
the orphanage we stayed at (and will be staying at again)
in Kenya.  They are VERY short of food
and the funding to buy more.

You can send a check made payable to:
Fiwagoh Mission Society
(memo line: feeding program)
P.O. Box 60
Thompsonville, IL  62890

Every penny of your tax-deductible donation will be wired into their
account in Kenya and used specifically to purchase food.
You can read more about this orphanage and the incredible Pastor and his wife
who run it by clicking HERE.

Don't just hear and read the headlines then turn away.
In obedience RESPOND to what Jesus has
commanded us to do....
"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
Matthew 25: 40

A Place Called FIWAGOH.....is calling again!

There is a very special place
far away
hidden in the beautiful mountains of Kenya
called ...
FIWAGOH

an amazing place - home to 180 orphans
who are being loved and cared for by
Pastor Benson and
his sweet wife Florence.

We left a HUGE part of our
hearts... at Fiwagoh

These children are amazing!
They are being trained to know, trust,
rely on, love and serve
the Lord!

They are also being trained in many skills...

We even had an opportunity to 'help' out...

They see attending school as a privilege
and work very hard.

It is amazing to watch the older ones
protect and care for the younger ones.
They led us on a two hour walk to the
near-by salt water lake to see
flamingos and then through the
forest to see the monkeys climbing
in the trees.

Unbelievable scenery - amazing views as we walked!

Monkey on the side of the tree.

Helping us through the barbed-wire fence.

They have a large garden and try to grow vegetables,
but you can imagine how much food it takes to
feed 180 hungry mouths.

The kids eat TWO meals a day.
They consist of Bugali (flour/water mixture) and Beans,
or Rice and Beans.

They rarely ever get fruit,
so we purchased several supplies including pineapple
for ALL of them before we left.

The cost of food in Kenya has gone up tremendously.
A large sack of corn which used to cost
1000 shillings (approx. $12 USA)
now costs 4000 shillings.
They go through one bag a day!

The children at this orphanage are very happy and loved by Pastor Benson
and his wife.  He has an amazing story of being an orphan himself -
trying to take care of his brothers.
Someone took him in and cared for him -
and therefore he started with taking in
just one orphan off the streets...
and God has now multiplied that to 180 blessings!

Their greatest need is FOOD.

Pastor Benson wrote an e-mail to us recently,
about how they are in very hard times and must learn to trust in God.
He mentioned that they have learned many great lessons
from George Muller's book - the man of faith
who fed and educated thousands of orphan children
- only by FAITH.

Pastor Benson then goes on to say....
"Honestly to speak, I have to tell you that there are times when our pockets run completely empty, not knowing what will the fate of all these mouths just in the next few days.  But our God has been supplying our needs in mysterious ways.  People whom we don't even know, have been inspired by the Holy Spirit to send us help of certain donations even before they know that we are in real need.  Praise the Lord!  Our God is so faithful!"

Stop and think....
when was the last time
you were
truly desperate
to have enough
money
to buy
food?

...not to go 'out to eat'
or buy a fancy steak to grill...
but
not having even a penny
to buy
anything....
not even a cracker?!?!?!

We saw their store room of 'food'.
Several bags of rice, beans, flour and a couple corn.
Honestly not enough to get them through a week
feeding 180 mouths
only
two meals
a day...

If you are interested in sending a donation - of any size to help with
the purchase of FOOD for this amazing group of orphans....
Please send your check to
