Uganda Team - Part 1

We are here... after a VERY long 24 hours of flying.  All of our luggage made it!  We just finished our 1st day on the ground.  Here is a quick summary of our day that I just posted on Facebook.

Amazing day at the Remand Home. Was able to share the gospel message of Salvation... incredible to be standing there telling this group of kids that Jesus came to be the payment for their sins.... to forgive them.... to wash them white as snow (that one was lost in the translation... no context here for SNOW) we all got a good laugh at that one! They sang with us... "I will pray in Jesus name and believe things will change - for I know Jesus hears me when I pray, so I won't worry or be afraid... " tears in my eyes as 120 sang at the top of their voices. Thank you Lord for such a good day!

It is almost mid-night here and with only about 10 hours of sleep since Saturday.... I am heading to bed!!  SO appreciate ALL your prayers.  Please don't stop!!  We are heading to the second 'Remand Center' tomorrow.  Many kids with very little HOPE!  Pray that we can be a light for them.... that they will see the HOPE of Jesus in us!

By the way.... wish you could have all seen Liz's face as we made the hour drive from the airport to our guest house!  Overwhelmed, shocked... those might be two good words!  SO fun for me to see her reaction.  She had a great time today with all the kids at the Remand Home.  Many stories to tell!!

More updates to come --- and pics (promise)!

34 hours and counting...

After weeks of planning, organizing, purchasing and packing... we are READY TO GO!!
We leave on the 6:10am flight Sunday morning.
Please PRAY for....

  • good weather
  • safe flights
  • sleep on the plane
  • all luggage arriving
  • all team members arriving :)
  • good health
  • safety in transportation (we will be on the road A LOT this trip!)
  • effective ministry on the ground
  • and that many orphans will know they are loved!!!
  • (not only by us, but most importantly -  by their HEAVENLY FATHER!)

We will be blogging as internet is available.

Our first day on the ground - Tuesday the 28th we will be at one of the 'remand' facilities.
Click HERE to see my post about this facility when Bret and I were there in March.
We are partnering with the ministry of Sixty Feet.  Click on their name to read more about
their ministry so you can specifically pray for these kids.
We will be there all day Tuesday at one facility and then another on Wednesday morning.
These kids live and survive in very rough conditions.

We are going with arms full....
taking t-shirts for them to paint, bracelets for them to make, lots of sports equipment, games, and hoping to purchase milk, biscuits and fruit on the way there Tuesday morning.
(they rarely EVER get milk, meat or fresh fruits & veggies)
We are also taking LOTS of love from so many of you who have donated money and supplies.
THANK YOU!!!

Most of all we are taking the LOVE of JESUS to this very desperate place!

We are SO very thankful for each one of you...
partnering with us in PRAYER as we go to SERVE!
Next post ... from AFRICA!!

Two weeks and COUNTING!!

I can't believe it -
2 weeks from RIGHT NOW,
we will be somewhere over the Atlantic Ocean
heading for AFRICA!!!

3 months ago - TODAY,
We boarded a plane headed for Uganda
.... and our lives will NEVER be the same!

God has been stretching and challenging us
in ways we can not explain.

But we are confident of this...
- HE has a PLAN
- we are CALLED to OBEY
- we are walking ONE STEP at a time.

We have seen HIS hand in AMAZING ways over the past two weeks!
We are now almost completely FUNDED for our trip!

UNBELIEVABLE!

Our bags are OVERFLOWING with donations
given by SO many family and friends.

Our hearts are BEYOND full of
LOVE
THANKFULNESS
EXCITEMENT
and
ANTICIPATION
for all that our two weeks in Africa will hold!

We are incredibly honored and humbled to hear that we have
the opportunity to spend an entire day among the people in the
Karamajong tribe.  We are taking embroidery thread to teach the
women how to make 'friendship bracelets' that they can potentially sell to
help provide them with some income for their families.

If you have any embroidery floss (like DMC or others)
that you would be willing to donate - please let me know.

Please PRAY that God will use us to bring
His HOPE and LOVE to this very poor
and outcast tribe of people.

We know that God is ORDERING our steps on this trip and
that HE has a plan for each and every day!

Please pray with us as we are TRUSTING Him for...
SAFETY
PROTECTION
EFFECTIVE MINISTRY
GOOD HEALTH
and MANY LIVES TO BE IMPACTED...

Let the PACKING & TRUSTING begin....

24 days and counting....

Liz & I are now if full swing of packing donations!
We have been SO blessed by having SO many things donated....
we are scratching our heads as to how to fit it all in!
We have two bags packed with boys clothes and 'little ones' things
such as baby blankets, onsies, board books and toddler clothes.
(would love to fit in those pull-ups and shoes!)
We have not begun to pack all the dresses being sewn...
currently we are at over 50 DRESSES
and there is yet another sewing party happening
in Wilmington, OH - Friday night!

Bags of Silly Bandz have been given by the
K-4th graders at our kids' Christian school as
they were challenged to
SHARE GOD's LOVE,
by giving something they have...
And look how many flip-flops
the 5th & 6th graders
at our school donated during a fun day where they
could 'wear a pair - donate a pair'!
My heart is BEYOND over flowing with
Love
Joy
and
Thankfulness
as we begin the process of
packing it all up... praying we can
squeeze in as much as possible to
BLESS
the children
of Uganda & Kenya!

God is continuing to
STRETCH ...me
as I wait with CONFIDENCE
knowing that HE can, and will
PROVIDE the rest of the needed funds.

We (Liz & I) still need almost
$3000
to fully fund our trip!
Tickets are being purchased this week.
We have ENOUGH for the tickets...
I smile... because I am learning
HE PROVIDES
EXACTLY
what we NEED....
WHEN we NEED IT!

If you are able to contribute to the costs
of this trip...
You can

THANK YOU for continuing to
pray for, support
and bless our family
as we move forward
one day at a time...
KNOWING that
God is the ONE
'ordering our steps'!
