HOME

HOME.
That was the word that appeared on my chat screen
from Bret Monday afternoon...
and I knew he had arrived.

THAT word held SO many emotions for this 'mama to many'
from the other side of the world.

And then within a moment - THIS appeared on my screen...
and the TEARS started flowing....

Joseph is my boy... we have had this special connection
since my first trip to the
Fiwagoh Mission Orphange Home & School
18 months ago, and last summer he worked his way
into the heart of each and every member of our family.

Not surprising at ALL that he was the FIRST one to get to Bret
when he stepped out of the car.
Amazing to me how God 'sets the lonely' in families... even from a far.
He is ONE of MANY that have become
a special part of our family... at our HOME - away from home.

Several of the older boys have been messaging Bret for MONTHS...
counting the weeks, and finally DAYS until he would
arrive back HOME.

If a picture is worth a thousand words...

THIS one...
...says IT ALL!

ONLY God...
can TOUCH a life,
and CHANGE a heart
and KINDLE a FIRE
to TAKE UP the
CAUSE of the FATHERLESS.

SO incredibly HUMBLED & THANKFUL
that God would chose US
to be HIS HANDS & FEET
to these amazing children!

There are many pictures to share and stories to be told, but for
tonight it WARMS my HEART to know that
Bret is ...HOME.

The Faces of Kibuku

Bret & Rob found themselves traveling across Uganda to the east...
through Jinja, across the Nile and on to Kibuku.
Join them ....

We have NO IDEA what real 'pot holes' and 'ruts in the road' are all about!

Crossing the Nile River....
Greeting the 20+ children who call Ebenezer Child - HOME.
Discovering the 'goodies' in their backpacks ....

Looking over the damage left by heavy rains and wind last week...
Thankfully no one was near the structure when the roof went down... this was used as a classroom & church.
Building being constructed as a chicken house for a means of income.

And now... the many FACES of Ebenezer Child ...
amazing smiles and dancing eyes!!

This small room sleeps 16 children in 8 beds... you do the math!

Garage area being used as a Preschool Classroom.
Chalk is a "universal" toy...
Musa meeting his new 'friend'.

"George"... oh my heart!!
Bret was quite popular as the pipe-cleaner "google" creator....

Bret with George and his wife Sylvia... the directors of Ebenezer Child.
Can you guess her name?  Why... Diana of course!!
"George"
Bret & Rob were able to spend today, Sunday with them at Ebenezer Child.
This is how you set up chairs for church... 'African Style'

Bret shared with the group, through the assistance of an interpreter...
The cute kiddos of Ebenezer Child....
They had a very full 2 days at Ebenezer Child...
learning about their needs, vision and plans for the future.
Bret & Rob will soon be waking on Monday morning in Uganda,
heading to the border crossing to meet our driver and friend, Daniel
who will take them on to Nakuru, Kenya.
Please pray for safety on the roads as they will travel approx. 6-8 hours.
More updates and pictures from Kenya
and Fiwagoh Mission Orphanage and School...
coming soon!

They have arrived...

After all the packing...
and all the hours of travel/flying... (24 to be exact)

 they have arrived in Uganda.
They are staying with some missionary friends for two nights, who live high on a mountain outside of Kampala.
No running water or electricity up that high.  Rain water is collected in cisterns and solar panels are used for electricity.  So thankful for a wonderful place for them to crash and recover before moving on.
What an amazing opportunity to spend several days with an
American family doing full-time ministry on the ground in Africa...

Great fun to see our friends kids get to pack 30 backpacks full of supplies Bret & Rob took to bless the children at Ebenezer Child ministries.

Bret & Rob will be arriving at Ebenezer Child in the afternoon on Saturday after a long 4-5 hour car ride.  They have had heavy rains in Kibuku and Ebenezer lost part of a structure that covers an area where they hold school and church.  Hoping that Bret & Rob might be able to help them get it fixed.  George the director is very excited to have Bret & Rob come and see all that is happening in their small orphanage of 20 HIV infected & affected children.

Continued prayers for their safety and ministry on the ground.
God is SO faithful as we continue to walk this journey.
Thankful for HIS direction along the way....
