Bret just returned a couple weeks ago from a 10 day
visit to Uganda & Kenya. He was on official "business" for our
new non-profit, EQUIP1 Ministries.
The task...
to determine WHAT, WHERE & HOW we would
be partnering with orphanages in both
countries to 'EQUIP' orphans
to KNOW, LOVE & SERVE
the Lord.
That mission looks different depending
on the age, location, condition and
current needs of the orphans God has placed...
in our path.
EQUIP1 was born out of a burning passion that only God
could have placed in the heart of both Bret & I after we returned to the States
last summer from Kenya. We spent several weeks working side by side
with some amazing teens at an orphanage near
the Great Rift Valley. God confirmed to BOTH of us that HE was
CALLING us to look away from ALL we once
PURSUED to assist in the WORK
HE was doing on the ground in KENYA.
We listened to these orphans share from their hearts.
They talked of the desire that God has given
them to SERVE Him by using their gifts
and abilities to make an IMPACT
on the lives of their fellow orphans and Kenyans
in their community.

Many of these children have lived on the street struggling to survive.
They have watched their parents suffer and die, or have been
abandoned by the only parents they knew.
Yet God, in His amazing LOVE & MERCY has seen fit to
RESCUE them from the streets and ADOPT them as His own.
He has PROVIDED for their basic needs by giving
them a home with Pastor Benson & Florence Nganga
at the Fiwagoh Mission Orphanage & School.
An earthly "father" to be an extension of the LOVE of their

heavenly FATHER.
What we have seen is such a model of how God in His LOVE &
MERCY has ADOPTED each of us...

He RESCUED us from a life of destruction & mere survival,
to LIVE in the FULLNESS of His
LOVE & GRACE
by SERVING and LOVING
the 'least of these'.

Many times we feel we are INADEQUATE...
not skilled or trained to be able to make a DIFFERENCE
in this WORLD full of NEED,
BUT
God doesn't CALL the EQUIPPED...
He EQUIPS the CALLED!
HE looks at us in our SELF-absorbed lives and...
LOVES us,
CALLS us
and EQUIPS us
to SERVE HIM.
That is where we feel our lives intersect with the lives of
these orphans HE calls HIS OWN.
He is in the business of EQUIPPING them to
fulfill the CALLING He has placed on their lives.
And we are HUMBLED to be CALLED to
PARTICIPATE in His PLAN
for each of them.
As I type this,
a VOCATIONAL school is being
constructed on the grounds of the
FIWAGOH Mission Orphanage & School
near Nakuru, Kenya.

This school is an answer to the PRAYERS of many
of these teenage orphans who have wondered
HOW they would be able to provide
for themselves after life
in the orphanage.
GOD is PROVIDING a WAY!
Each orphan will be trained in a trade...
skilled in an area of their interest:
DRESS MAKING/TAILORING
FABRIC DESIGNS
KNITTING & WEAVING
LEATHER WORK - SHOES & BELTS
CULINARY
MEDICAL CLINIC
ELECTRICAL
CONSTRUCTION
CARPENTRY/JOINERY
They will be EQUIPPED to not only
make a living for themselves and their
future families, but also to SHARE
the GOOD NEWS of JESUS
in the MARKETPLACE.
EQUIP1 Ministries is partnering with
FIWAGOH in the construction of this school.
As walls are going up,
each brick being made by hand... GOD is
continuing to REMIND these orphans
that He LOVES them and has a PLAN
for their LIVES.
Our focus for EQUIP1 for 2013 is to RAISE FUNDS for the
NEXT PHASE of the construction...
ROOF SHEETING,
DOORS and WINDOWS
will cost approximately
$17,000USD.
In Kenya...
you PRAY, and BUILD with the $$ you have.

that GOD will PROVIDE enough
