Bret and Liz have been very busy the past couple of days.
Bret has spent most of his time in the city finding and purchasing supplies.
Not quite the same experience as going to Home Depot here in the states.
They have to go to a store, talk to the man behind the counter, describe what they are looking for, then wait for him to go to the back and see what he might have to fit the bill. Then they go to the bank to withdraw the money and go back and pay the shop keeper. Slowly the materials are being picked up and delivered to the orphanage.
Bret is learning very quickly, that very few things in Africa happen.....
QUICKLY!
He is also enjoying getting accustomed to all the different modes of transportation as well.
Here is his post on Facebook today:
Slowly worked my way through the city's public transportation today . . . lots of walking mixed in with a few boda boda rides, followed by a tuk tuk (enclosed three wheel, four person motorcycle) and last but not least a ride home in a matata
(small van filled with 17 Kenyans and 1 American)
I am learning that personal space is a luxury here . . .

you can see my view from the back of the van . . .
He spent some time yesterday staking out in the field exactly where the playground will sit.

Spare tires for the ladder |
Liz is doing much better. She has been able to take it easy and SLEEP.
Seriously... she has been sleeping quite a bit.
I think her body is finally getting adjusted.
I just found these couple pics of her posted this afternoon....
just hanging out with the kiddos!
(warms my heart!!)

Bret told me there are now 210 kids at this orphanage.
That number is up from 180 when I was there this past October.
They can't help but bring a SMILE to your face....
Ever curious.... |

Standing outside of the kitchen door.. watermelon, I think. |
Emmanuel - don't let the pink coat fool you! Look at those EYES! |
By tomorrow, it sounds like most of the supplies will be on-site.
I am sure they will ALL be ready for a much needed REST
as they observe their Sabbath on Saturday.
What an amazing place to enjoy God's creation
and spend time worshiping and reflecting on all His blessings.....
Praising and thanking God for another day of ....
His protection,
His provision,
and His presence
"O Lord, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth."
Isaiah 25:1
